Gerry discovered his athleticism later in life at the age of 41. Despite having been an accomplished tennis player and coach, he struggled with weight and obesity for much of his young adulthood. In September 2007 when he reached an unbearable 260+ pounds barely fitting into size 46 pants, he decided to change his life. In 10 months he dropped over 80 pounds, going from 37% to 8% body fat and now wears a size 32.

Gerry began cycling in April 2008 and running in October 2008. He completed his first Super Sprint triathlon in May 2009 at the Spring Sprint in Mission Bay, California.

A novice triathlete who is just beginning to tap his speed potential and explore the limits of his endurance, Gerry plans to swim, bike, and run for as long as God allows.
